The Challenge:
- Manufacturing was
"old" style in layouts, machinery and organization.
The Approach:
- Formed three teams
to develop and implement the Lean Manufacturing strategy.
- Utilized Value
Stream Mapping methodology.
- The Plan was developed
in four days.
The Solution:
- Concentrated on
three different writing instruments that covered 75% of the
plant production processes.
- Developed Current
State maps and Future State maps of the areas.
The Results:
The plan calls for:
- Area One will
reduce 33% of the workforce and 60% of the inventory Area output
will improve by 16%.
- Area Two will form
six cells and reduce 52% of the workforce. Inventories and space
will be reduced also.
- Area Three Unit
cost down by 7.0%, Productivity improvement of 37%. Savings
$1,000,000 US.
